BETTER LISTENING LEADS TO BETTER GRADES

Martial arts requires students use their mental and physical skills together to achieve their goals. One of the first things that our students learn as martial artists is how to listen like a Black Belt. Learning to focus their eyes, their mind and their bodies on a single person speaking to them or the action that they are doing leads to improved results.

CONCENTRATION IS THE KEY

Building the ability to concentrate is one of the best ways to combat ADD & ADHD. The first key our students learn is to focus their eyes on their instructor in order to increase their ability to learn visually. The second key our students learn is to focus their mind.  Learning the ability to tune out the noise and distractions round them increases their ability to assimilate and retain the lesson they are given. The final key is learning to focus their bodies.  Learning to sit still and reduce the urge to fidget encourages them to not be their own distraction while in the lesson

MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES TEACH TEENS NOT TO GIVE UP ON SETTING GOALS

Even when they know that the alternative might be better, teens often take the easy way out of problems if and when they can. In our academy, we emphasize the importance of staying in control and learning proper form, neither of which is possible without persistence and discipline. Studying martial arts requires teens to pursue goals on a regular basis. With each skill they learn and each belt they earn, they will have something representative of a goal they’ve achieved.

Both in and out of the academy, the regular pursuit of small goals will help teens learn the value of persistence. By showing goal-setting in this way, teens are provided with the tools they’ll need to set achievable goals in school, at home, and in life.

BULLYING HURTS KIDS PSYCHOLOGICALLY

Children who are bullied often suffer from low self-esteem, fear, and poor school performance. Their lives revolve around the actions of bullies. Bullies focus on kids who seem fearful or vulnerable, but martial arts teaches kids to be confident and self-assured. Martial arts build mental, emotional, and physical strength – and by teaching self-respect, it helps children believe in themselves, which makes them poor targets for bullies.

HELP YOUR CHILD GET OFF OF THEIR DEVICE AND INTO THE WORLD

According to the latest estimates the average child spends over 2 hours per day in front of a screen outside of their daily school work. Martial arts is unique in that at our academy no one sits on the bench.  All our students train together, each striving for their goal to one day become a Black Belt. Having shared goals gives our students the opportunity to interact with each other and build friendships that extend off of the mat.  Many of our students find life long friends through their martial arts training.

HOW TO SET (AND ACHIEVE) GOALS

Sometimes kids don’t appear to care about setting goals in the short or the long-term. Studying martial arts require kids to pursue goals on a regular basis. With each skill they learn and each belt they earn they will have something representative of a goal they’ve achieved. By showing goal-setting in this way, kids are provided with the tools they’ll need to set achievable goals in school, at home, and in life.
