The Right Diet for Your Body

Tiger-Rock Martial Arts wants to help you on your personal journey to live a healthier life. You want the right diet for your body to compliment your martial arts classes. This month we are going to focus on what the best foods for your body are while you are training with us here at Tiger-Rock. You don’t want your stomach to get upset prior to your class and you want to stay hydrated.

Protein

There is a lot of protein but you want to focus on lean protein. Chicken and fish are the best meats when it comes to protein, for a martial artist to eat. Lean chicken is light and will digest easily. Shellfish and seafood are both healthy and have the omega-3 that you need but be aware of the sodium. Sodium/salt can cause some people to swell or have that bloating feeling. It all depends on how your body processes food. Nuts have protein in them and are a great snack.

Carbs

Brown rice is a good source of fiber and is a good carb. Green vegetables have carbs that help you build endurance. Stay away from the bad carbs like pure sugar, desserts, and processed foods. Processed foods can keep your energy level low. Your body needs fuel before your martial arts class. It is best to eat smaller meals throughout the day. Bananas have carbs but they also have the potassium that helps the nerves and muscles function correctly. Fruit does have carbs that convert into energy which is a good source of energy before a workout.

Vitamin B Foods

Oats contain vitamin B which is crucial for keeping your energy steady through your martial arts class. Oats contain fiber which is a carbohydrate. Oats contain fiber and fiber will release steady energy. A small cup of oats before any workout would do your body good. Eggs are a solid source of protein yet, contain the B vitamin that your body craves before a good workout. Broccoli and spinach are not only rich in fiber but can give you that burst of energy that you need after a long day at work or school. You want to be mentally alert and physically energetic by the time you arrive at your class.

Post Workout Care

Drink plenty of water so that you don’t become dehydrated. Tiger-Rock Martial Arts classes are of high impact. Because of this, you want to have access to an adequate amount of water throughout the day. Blueberries and dark fruits will quickly get rid of the natural waste elements that weigh you down and keep you bloated. Pineapple and kiwi will help with the pain and inflammation after a martial arts workout. Keep your muscles happy with proteins that are high in Omega-3 fats.
